Apply for a Scotland Grant

Heart Research UK is committed to supporting research at hospitals and universities across the United Kingdom, including Scotland. In 2018, we announced a new, regional grant for Scotland and we are pleased to offer this grant again in 2021.

Eligibility

This year, we are inviting applications again from researchers at institutions in Scotland for research projects into the prevention, treatment and cure of heart disease and related conditions.

For information about eligibility and how grants are chosen, please see Translational Research Project (TRP) Grants.

Please note that from 2021, Heart Research UK is introducing a dedicated PhD studentship scheme and therefore studentships can no longer be applied for as part of a Scotland Grant.

Closing date for applications: 1pm, 1st June 2021

Award announced: November 2021

How they are chosen

As a member of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC), we use a rigorous scientific review process to ensure that we fund only the best research projects in universities and hospitals.

All grant applications are assessed by carefully selected external peer-reviewers, in addition to the Heart Research UK Translational Research Project (TRP) Grants Medical Review Panel.

In 2019, the award rate for the Scotland Grant was

one in eleven.
