An evening dedicated to art was held at the splendid offices of our partner Walker Morris on 3rd November, to launch the 5th year of the anonymous heART project.

The occasion was an opportunity to showcase the third year of sponsorship by Walker Morris, of which we are exceedingly grateful.

In attendance were old and new friends, including corporate supporters Caravan Guard, Up & Running, Thorite, Sante Group and Credera.

We welcomed art lover Steph McGovern as our keynote speaker. Steph’s Dad Eamonn submitted a beautiful piece of art into this year’s eBay auction, a drawing of Steph’s childhood Irish dancing shoes. It was lovely that he and his wife also came along to the event.

The evening gave us a chance to offer a unique preview of over 100 of the 450 A5 pieces that would go on to be sold in our eBay auction, raising over £45,000. A further five larger pieces were specially donated for the event and auctioned with the support of Briony Harford of Bonhams Auctioneers, raising an additional £2,000.

David Smedley, Chairman of the LLP at Walker Morris, said:

“We are delighted to support and be part of such a brilliant campaign with Heart Research UK. We always look forward to the anonymous heART project and the creativity and talent that comes with it. Each year it gets bigger and better!”

Our sponsorship with Walker Morris this year also included collaborating on a student bursary award at Leeds Art University and creating some fun videos with children, asking viewers if they can guess the art masterpiece. View them below!

In the aftermath of COVID-19 disruption, it was enjoyable to see and meet so many people face to face at last. Without our supporters, we simply can’t fund the vital work we do to help prevent, treat and cure heart disease.
