Southend United Community and Educational Trust
Project Title: Heart of the Community
1,200 children aged 9-11 in their last years of primary school across South East Essex will take part in six weeks of classroom learning and physical activity sessions all centred around the inner workings of the heart and how to keep it healthy. Activities will include quizzes and interactive games that share ideas around which foods make up a healthy balanced diet and how increasing physical activity affects the heart and circulatory system.
Age appropriate CPR sessions will give children the confidence and skills to perform CPR. They will bring their own soft toy and use popular tunes such as baby shark to help them remember what to do should a family member or someone in their community need this potentially life-saving technique.
Children will go home and inspire their families with practical tips around eating better and moving more for a healthier, happier longer life. Each child will be given a free ticket to a healthy heart themed match day with fun and engaging activities for the family.
