Helping the

hearts of tomorrow

Heart Research UK funds pioneering medical research projects which aim to benefit patients as soon as possible.
Every year over half of our income is made up from gifts made in Wills, a lifeline we couldn’t do without.

“ Dorothy Philips and Riley Platts never met but together they make a heart-warming story. ”

Dorothy Philips and Riley Platts (pictured) never met but together they make a heart-warming story. Riley was born with a serious heart condition and needed open heart surgery when he was just a baby and he will unfortunately need more operations as he grows older. Dorothy left a gift to Heart Research UK in her Will. It’s thanks to people like Dorothy that we can help people like Riley.

We are currently funding a project at Bristol Heart Institute, which will help children born with heart conditions like Riley. The project is developing a technique to grow new arteries for babies born with heart defects. These arteries will grow with the child and remove the need for multiple traumatic operations as they get older.

We understand that family comes first. Many people think they have to leave a lot of money in their Will to have an impact. This isn’t true at all, in fact in 2017 almost a quarter of gifts left to us were £100 or less. You can also consider leaving a residuary legacy, a share of what is left over once you have looked after your family.
