Huge response to our first ever medical research grant dedicated to Scotland
We’ve had an overwhelmingly high number of applications for our first ever grant dedicated to supporting research in Scottish institutions.
Following the huge response, we’re doubling the original amount of money pledged, and awarding two grants of £150,000 each.
The grants will be awarded in early November, and aim to bridge the gap between laboratory-based scientific research and patient care to improve the health, treatment and care of patients with heart disease.
We’ve had a long history of funding Scottish institutions, with over £500,000 of grants awarded in Scotland over the last 10 years.
Helen Wilson, Head of Research at Heart Research UK, said: “This year we’ve had an exceptionally high level of interest in our grants, especially from researchers in Scotland.
“We particularly wanted to introduce exclusive regional grants for Scotland to help further support the excellent research already taking place there.
“The aim of Heart Research UK is to fund the best scientists and the highest quality research into heart disease to benefit patients as soon as possible.”
