21 Heart Research UK runners took part with thousands of others at the Central Health Derby 10K.

Starting at Pride Park Stadium, home of the city’s football team, elite athletes, first time runners, fun runners and even the Mayor joined in to run the 10K course – now in its 18th year.

Among those who took part included seven runners from our charity partner EKV Design, and members of staff from DS Smith’s site in Belper.

Joanne Madden, Midlands Admin & Events, said: “A big thank you to all those who ran for us in this year’s Central Health Derby 10K, including a special thank you to Sarah Naden who organised EKV Design’s team once again.

“Between the seven of them they raised £500, and Sarah even managed to beat her time from last year too.

“Heart Research UK is an important charity to Sarah. Her youngest sister, Sian, had had to have two open-heart surgeries – one when she was 26 and one when she was just 18 months old.

“The money they raised will fund pioneering medical research in the Midlands and help people live healthier, happier and longer lives.”
