February is Heart Month across the world which shines a spotlight in heart health and here at HRUK its business as usual. Here’s just a snap shot of what we’re up to.
We’ve come a long way improving treatments and education on heart disease since Heart Research UK was started. 50 years ago, did you know that then it was almost certain you would die if you suffered a heart attack and today you are almost certain to survive? In the last 50 years the number of heart attacks has more than halved.
We know that medical research works and this month we’ll be showcasing our latest exciting new research projects. Check back in a few weeks for our announcements.
During the month, we’ll also be visiting some of our Heart Research UK and Subway® Healthy Heart Grantees to see their heart healthy projects in action, helping their local communities keep their hearts healthy. We’ll be keeping you updated through our social media so keep your eyes peeled.
Our work funding pioneering medical research and education goes on because of your support with fundraising events, donations and volunteering.
We’ve loads of ideas on our website for you to fundraise from swimming the channel in your local pool to donating old jewellery with our Treasure your Heart campaign. If you want to talk, we’d love to hear any ideas, just give our lively fundraising team a call today on 0113 2347474.
They will support you all along the way with your ideas, just like they have Bess who’s organised her own Yoga Festival on 18 February to raise money for our pioneering work.
Our Smarty Pants Quiz is also happening this month, right here in our hometown of Leeds. Are you a Yorkshire business that has brains and heart? It’s a great chance to get to meet the team, have fun and also network with other businesses. No hard sell, we promise it’s just a good night out. Some great businesses have already signed up and places are filling up fast so book your place today for the event on 22 February.
So as you can see, we’ve got loads running alongside Heart Month. Thanks for your support.
Keep your eyes peeled on our Facebook and Twitter pages for updates as well as right here on our website.
