Moving More

Moving More

Moving more and being more active can have a huge impact on your health and is key to reduce your risk of coronary heart disease.

Being more active doesn’t mean you need to join the gym or sign up to a marathon, they are simple things you can do each day to get you moving more.

How much activity should I do?

We should all aim to do 30 minutes of moderate activity each day or 15 minutes of vigorous activity.

Here are some ideas:

Moderate

Your breathing should increase but having a conversation should still be possible:
- Cycling
- Walking
- Swimming

Vigorous

Your breathing should be fast and talking is difficult:
- Running
- Uphill cycling
- Fitness class

Building up muscle is also really important and we should all aim to do this twice a week. That might be a yoga class, carrying bags home from the shops or digging in the garden.

We are here to help. We know taking that first step can be tough and a huge challenge and we are here to help. Sign up to our weekly healthy tips emails to help you along your way.
