Know the symptoms of a heart attack #HERdisease header image

Research has found that women are less likely than men to recognise the symptoms of heart attack. This can mean they delay seeking medical help which reduces their chances of survival.

We want to encourage all women to take charge of their own heart health and know the symptoms and signs of heart attack. A heart attack is a serious medical emergency and an ambulance should be called immediately.

Symptoms of heart attack vary from person to person but may include:

Chest pain
A feeling of pressure or heaviness on the chest.
Pain radiating from the chest to the jaw arms and back
Feeling weak or lightheaded or both
Sweating
Shortness of breath
Overwhelming feeling of anxiety
Feeling nauseous or being sick
