Heart attacks, caused by blockages in the coronary arteries, cause a lack of blood to the heart.

Damage can persist even after the blockage is removed, potentially causing heart failure. Rapid ageing of heart cells after a heart attack causes the release of proteins which contribute to this damage.
This project is going to explore whether measuring the levels of these proteins in a patient’s blood is a good predictor of recovery from a heart attack.

This will provide insight into how to improve post-heart attack recovery and reduce the chance of heart failure.
