Exercise support after spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD)
Exercise & lifestyle
Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is a tear or bruise within the coronary arteries, which can cause a heart attack. It is most common in women in their 40s and 50s.
After a heart attack, most patients are offered a programme of exercise known as cardiac rehabilitation, however, this was not developed or tested on SCAD patients. This project will test the possibility of a clinical trial to explore post-SCAD exercise.
The ultimate goal is to create specific guidelines for exercise in SCAD patients and improve quality of life.t.
