People from South Asian backgrounds experience higher levels of heart diseases than other groups.

Members of Sikh Gurdwaras are generally from South Asian backgrounds. In Gurdwaras, a meal known as Langar is served, which whilst vegetarian is often high in sugar, oil and butter, which is not good for heart health.

This work, building on previous research which showed positive attitudes towards change, aims to establish the practicalities of implementing heart-healthy changes to Langar.

This has the potential to gather knowledge and improve the health of a community that is often underserved in terms of scientific research.
