Cardiomyopathy in pregnancy
Data,
Clinical trial
Heart disease is the single biggest cause of maternal death in the UK and cardiomyopathy, although rare, is often the cause.
Cardiomyopathy refers to a thickening or stiffening of the walls of the heart, which prevents it from functioning properly. While many women with cardiomyopathy will have straightforward pregnancies, very little is known about cardiomyopathy in pregnancy.
This project will collect extensive data to explore a number of questions regarding the management of cardiomyopathy during pregnancy.
It is hoped that this will provide guidance to improve outcomes for both mothers and babies across the UK.
The development of a new AI-supported model for imaging the heart based on data from over 700 people with atrial fibrillation, allow ablation to be more personalised to individual patients.
