Heart Research UK is very pleased to share that we have passed the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) Expert Review Audit!
The audit, which takes place every five years, examines our processes for funding medical research against the AMRC’s six principles of expert review: proportionality, independence, diversity, rotation, impartiality and transparency. The audit is a key requirement of AMRC membership, and helps AMRC members ensure they are following good practise as the funding and research landscapes change.
To complete the audit, we had to provide information on all stages of our research funding processes. These were assessed by a review committee which was made up of people involved in funding medical research from other AMRC charities and government funders.
Our Director of Research, Dr Kate Langton, commented:
I am delighted that we have passed the audit and know we have the right processes in place to fund the projects that will deliver the most benefit for people with heart disease and their families. The audit is a great opportunity to reflect on our funding mechanisms with support from the wider medical research funder community.
Passing the audit provides assurance to our amazing supporters that we use robust and rigorous research funding processes that ensure we fund the best research and driving better health outcomes for people living with heart disease.
