Automotive retailer partners with Heart Research UK to fund heart health checks in communities across Northern England, starting in Knowsley

Arnold Clark is partnering with Heart Research UK to help improve heart health across Northern England, funding a programme of heart health checks designed to encourage people to take a proactive approach to their wellbeing.

Taking inspiration from the familiar car MOT, the initiative puts a human spin on preventative health, giving people the opportunity to learn more about their heart health and understand the importance of identifying potential risk factors early. The automative retailer will be sponsoring heart health checks which will be carried out by the Health Prevention and Education team from Heart Research UK, these checks include: blood pressure readings, cholesterol check, body composition analysis and are completely free to the public, those who wish to attend will just need to sign up on the Heart Research UK website.

Knowsley will be the first location to benefit from the programme, with further heart health checks planned across Knowsley, Wigan, Leeds and Derby in Northern England as the partnership develops.

Heart disease remains a major health concern, and understanding personal risk factors can be an important step towards making informed choices about long-term health. Through the initiative, Arnold Clark and Heart Research UK aim to make heart health more accessible, raising awareness of the importance of prevention and encouraging people to put their wellbeing on the checklist.

By funding the checks, Arnold Clark is supporting Heart Research UK’s work to improve cardiovascular health and help communities better understand how they can look after their hearts. This programme is a part of many workplace wellbeing health checks Heart Research UK delivers across the country, this particular arm of the charity is dedicated in ensuring workplaces across the UK are healthier environments by offering advice, health check-ups and guidance to corporations up and down the UK.

Russell Borrie, Arnold Clark Chief Executive Officer, said: “We’re proud to be partnering with Heart Research UK to bring heart health checks to communities across Northern England, starting in Knowsley.”

“We’re all familiar with the idea of an MOT for our cars, but it’s just as important to think about looking after ourselves. This initiative is about helping people take a moment to check in on their health, understand their heart health and take positive steps towards a healthier future.”

Natasha Malin, Workplace Wellbeing Specialist at Heart Research UK said: “Prevention and awareness are important parts of improving heart health. Partnerships like this help bring conversations about cardiovascular health into local communities and encourage people to take an active interest in their wellbeing.

“We’re delighted to be working with Arnold Clark on this initiative, beginning in Knowsley, and look forward to helping more people access heart health checks across Northern England.”

The programme reflects a shared commitment to supporting healthier communities and making conversations about heart health a more visible part of everyday life.

With Knowsley marking the first stop, Arnold Clark and Heart Research UK hope the initiative will help put heart health firmly on the map, reminding people that while a car MOT keeps a vehicle running smoothly, looking after your heart is one of the most important checks you can make.
