These crispy roasted chickpeas are a deliciously crunchy, heart-healthy alternative to crisps. Packed with fibre and plant-based protein, they help support healthy cholesterol levels and keep you feeling fuller for longer. Seasoned to perfection and oven-roasted until golden, they’re the perfect guilt-free snack for when you’re craving something savoury.

Method

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 200°C and line a baking tray with greaseproof paper.
  2. Step 2: After rinsing, dry the chickpeas thoroughly with a clean tea towel or kitchen roll, this is key for crispiness.
  3. Step 3: Add the spices, pepper and olive oil to a bowl and toss the chickpeas until well coated.
  4. Step 4: Spread the chickpeas in a single layer on the baking tray and roast for 30-40 minutes, shaking them halfway through, until golden and crunchy.
  5. Step 5: Cool completely before storing and leave the container open slightly as this keeps them crispy. Consume within 24 hours.

    Ingredients

  • 400g tin of chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • ½ tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • Pinch black pepper
