Wrap your hands around a mug of this Mulled Berry & Beetroot Warmer – a vibrant, heart-healthy spin on traditional mulled wine. Bursting with antioxidant-rich berries, earthy beetroot, and festive spices, it delivers all the warmth and depth of the season without the alcohol or excess sugar. Naturally sweet and beautifully spiced, it’s the perfect way to toast to good health on a chilly winter’s day.

Mulled Berry & Beetroot Warmer

Method

  1. Add the berries, beetroot juice, water, orange slices, and all the spices to a saucepan. Bring gently to a simmer.
  2. Reduce the heat and let it simmer very gently for 15–20 minutes. Stir occasionally and slightly crush some of the berries with the back of a spoon to release their juices.
  3. Add the maple syrup or honey and strain through a fine sieve into mugs. Garnish with a slice of orange and an additional cinnamon stick. Serve hot.

    Ingredients

  • 250g frozen mixed berries (e.g. blueberries, blackberries, cherries, raspberries)
  • 250ml beetroot juice (unsweetened)
  • 600ml water
  • 1 small orange, sliced
  • 1 cinnamon stick (plus extra for serving)
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1 star anise
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • 2 tsp maple syrup or honey
