Cosy up with this Spiced Apple Crumble, a heart-healthy take on a classic winter pudding. Sweet, cinnamon-spiced apples are topped with a golden oat and nut crumble for all the comfort, with none of the excess sugar or saturated fat. It’s a wholesome, feel-good dessert that proves indulgence can still be kind to your heart.

Spiced Apple Crumble

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (fan 160°C). In a saucepan, add the sliced apples, spices, lemon juice, vanilla, and 2 tbsp water. Simmer gently for 5–8 minutes until the apples just begin to soften. Stir in the maple syrup or honey.
  2. In a bowl, combine the crumble ingredients apart from the oil. Mix well and once combined add the olive oil and mix with a fork until crumbly.
  3. Spoon the apple mixture into a small baking dish, top evenly with the crumble mixture, and bake for 25–30 minutes, until golden and crisp.
  4. Enjoy warm with dollop of low-fat Greek yogurt if desired.
