A healthier, tastier twist on a classic, these homemade baked beans are low in salt and sugar—helping to keep your blood pressure in check. Packed with protein-rich mixed beans and flavoured with herbs and spices, they’re a heart-friendly upgrade to the shop-bought version.


Method

  1. Heat the oil in the pan. Once hot, add in the onion and cook until soft.
  2. Add the paprika and stir.
  3. Then add the tomato paste, passata, mixed beans, mixed herbs and vegetable stock. Simmer for 10-15 minutes or until thickened
  4. Serve with wholemeal toast or a baked sweet potato and enjoy!

    Ingredients

  • 1 tsp rapeseed oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 500 g passata
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp tomato puree
  • 400 g mixed beans, drained
  • 100 ml reduced salt vegetable stock
  • 2 tsp dried mixed herbs
