Grace's Story

Grace undertook the 2026 AJ Bell Great North Run for Heart Research UK.

On 29 December 2024, while out on his usual run, my lovely dad, Paul, suddenly passed away from heart failure due to undiagnosed heart disease.

My dad loved running both for his mental health and fitness. I, on the other hand, used to hate running. I could never understand why he wanted to run on purpose!

After Dad died, I felt it was right to carry on doing what he loved, and it has recently become something I have actually grown to love too. In July last year, I put on my running shoes and started Couch to 5K and signed up for the Great North Run to raise money for Heart Research UK in memory of my dad. Since I started training, I have also joined a run club, which my dad wouldn’t believe if he were still here!

I am so proud to be supporting Heart Research UK, who fund projects to advance the prevention, treatment and cure of heart disease in the UK.
