Jessica's story

Jessica took on the Great North Run 2024 for Heart Research UK.

Heart diseases were something that I had never had much experience of in my life, this was until a friend of mine experienced a sudden heart attack. I was in complete shock, I just couldn’t understand how it could of happened to him, it just didn’t even seem possible. Gratefully my friend recovered, but I know not everyone is so fortunate. This really hit home, it made me realize how important it is to increase awareness about heart health and to raise money for Heart Research UK. This is why I decided to participate in the Great North Run.

I am not a natural runner and I have had to train hard to try get my distance up, but it has been totally worth it knowing that any money raised will be going towards playing a crucial role in advancing cardiac treatments and improving the outcomes for individuals affected by heart diseases.
