Sydney Opera House and bridge

The TCS Sydney Marathon is now the seventh Abbott World Marathon Majors race. Beginning in 2025, the Australian city will join the AWMM series that currently includes Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York.

Starting on Miller Street in North Sydney (echoing the start of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Marathon), this incredibly scenic course takes in some of Sydney’s most spectacular and historic landmarks, including the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the world famous Opera House.

Heart Research UK have secured a small number of places in this world-class marathon course, so we’d urge anyone interested in taking on this challenge to apply for one of our places before the end of March.

We look after our runners here at Heart Research UK. As a member of #TeamHRUK we will provide you with:

  • Training and nutrition tips and access to a real-life marathon trainer
  • A Heart Research UK t-shirt and running vest
  • Fundraising ideas and resources – from posters and balloons to collection boxes and stickers
  • The chance to share advice and training tips with #TeamHRUK past and present
  • A member of the Heart Research UK team on hand to support you every step of the way.

Signing up for the marathon is a big commitment – not just the training but raising money too (minimum sponsorship £1,800). We’ll be with you every step of the way.

If you’ve already secured your own place in the Sydney Marathon and would like to support Heart Research UK, we’ll just ask you to raise as much as you can. Please contact rachel@heartresearch.org.uk
