Heart Research UK Spokespeople
- Kate Bratt-Farrar, Chief Executive
Kate has been Heart Research UK’s Chief Executive since 2019, having worked in the charity sector for over 18 years. Previously, Kate served as the director of the Sue Ryder Wheatfields hospice, and was Chief Executive of Leeds Women’s aid, and acts as a trustee for numerous other charities.
- Helen Wilson, Head of Research
Helen has been with Heart Research UK for 11 years, and manages the Charity’s research portfolio, focusing on supporting the highest quality science and the best scientists. Her role involves developing the charity’s research strategy, managing the grants-selection process, evaluating research projects, and ensuring effective communication to disseminate findings.
- Dr Helen Flaherty, Head of Health Promotion
Dr Flaherty is a registered Public Health Nutritionist who worked for several years as a Lecturer in three universities before joining Heart Research UK in 2019. Helen has a degrees in Nutrition, Health Studies and a PhD in dietary adherence in coeliac disease. Dr Flaherty manages the Subway and Heart Research UK Healthy Hearts Grants, which fund community projects aimed at improving people’s health. Helen is also responsible for managing the delivery of healthy heart checks in workplaces and the community.
